The China Flash Market web site is getting redder and redder every day (spot prices in China are going down) for both DRAM and NAND products.

en.chinaflashmarket.com

My hunch is data center memory is going great.

Client memory for PCs was going great when the great Lockdown began (early March??) as PC orders boomed for work and education telecommuting. After that boom subsides (about now?) PC sales are going to collapse.

And client memory for cell phones probably collapsed simultaneous with the great Lockdown (early March) and orders have ground to a halt as there is probably lots of inventory in the channel. No one is buying new phones at all at the moment.

My hunch is stocks are rallying as the end of the virus lockdown is in site, but whether they will hold up as the affect of a six week complete pause to sales, and future affects of the current mass unemployment ripples through upcoming quarterly results, I have no idea.

The idea that consumers will spend in the fall as much as was expected this January before the virus kicked the economy in the butt seems wrong. But the stocks seem to think things may be OK.
