I think that's just another bloviating on Brooks part. But if I were to refashion the line, destroying the establishment was a line, not of the left, but of the further left, of the way out left. It was fantasy but it certainly didn't corrupt the left, whatever that is.

I'm not competent to talk about what might corrupt the right. But I can say that any line coming from McCain that is populist is an even bigger hypocrisy than is currently floating around. While he's opposed his party on occasion and opposed his party's president on occasion, he's been a faithful supporter of big business Republicans. Witness Phil Gramm's role in his life and in his campaign.
