A totally meaningless statement. And wrong. The egg was alive before fertilization. So was the sperm. Both are human cells. Currently, a fertilized ovum is unique because it can potentially develop into a new human, but there is a lot required to go right before that potential can be realized. Not the least of which is it has to actually implant. The majority never do. The problem with imbuing a fertilized ovum with full personhood is that what happens if it doesn't implant? Has a murder been committed? If the reason for non-implantation was because of a lifestyle choice, say the ingestion of a medication, legal or not, which keeps this from happening, is it murder? Note that while we do know of some that have this effect, there are likely a lot of other ones that have never been tested for this and no one knows.
Well, what about embryos which do implant but never develop right and wind up being flushed out next period? Again, this happens to a majority. What if the reason is because the mother has ingested something that caused it? Again, there are likely a lot of things that could cause this but we are not aware of it. There are many stages where things can, and do, go wrong. Which is why you egg worshipers are so short-sighted.
And we haven't even gotten to the issue of what happens once a child is born. Most of you egg worshipers are content if they starve with their moms in the streets after they are born. Which is strange. Y'all are willing to have the state intrude into peoples personal lives to protect single cells, but once there is a birth, essentially throw them to the wolves. Where is your compassion, then?
Or is that you aren't really hypocritical and you don't really care about the proto-human, but want to extend control over women like has been historically the case. |
