Interactive Objects Commences Trading on Berlin Stock
Exchange

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 21, 1998--Interactive Objects Inc., creators of modular
software development tools and components, announced today the Company has been listed on Germany's
Berlin stock exchange.

The Company's shares trade on the ''Third Market Segment'' of the Berlin Stock Exchange under the symbol
''IOX'' and German securities code WKN: 913011. Interactive Objects has been sponsored by Berliner
Freiverkehr (Aktien) AG.

The Third Market Segment in Berlin is home to more than 1000 international and multinational companies
including AT&T, Boeing, Dell, Eastman Kodak, Microsoft, Netscape, Sun Microsystems and Yahoo.

Word of Interactive Objects listing on the German Exchange comes on the heals of the Company's recent
announcement (April 17, 1998) of being awarded a $2 million software development contract by SAFECO
Insurance Company of America. Under terms of the agreement, Interactive Objects will develop an
enterprise-wide Internet information system for SAFECO, recognized as one of the largest diversified financial
corporations in the United States with more than $27 billion in combined assets. ''We chose Interactive
