Roger,

Thanks for the reply. Why not by Novell at the price it is at now. If they go back to $11/share they have got to be a good target for a takeover and if not then the take up of Netware 4 in the market together with the ongoing acceptance of Groupwise can only mean that the dividends will be healthy in the future.

Now that Novell is highly focused on the software side of the Networking marketplace, they do not really have too many other companies left out there that would be worth buying. As long as Frankenberg remains focused (which by his stint at HP he appears to know how to do), then the current 1/2 billion in the account can only get bigger, sooner or later this must come back to the shareholders.

Everyone seems to overlook the fact that the reason the last two quarters have been poor, was firstly for the Unixwar/Wordperfect write off and then secondly in this last quarter for the massive buy back of stock from the channel that Novell did. THis buy back has if anything made the majoirty of Novell distributors a lot more loyal/happy and this can only translate to bigger and better things down the track.

I do not believe the future is totally rosey for Novell, but if Joe Marangi can keep his sales guys focused, Jeff Waxman can keep the product guys ontrack, and Drew Major keep leading the developers forward then Microsoft has got a lot of catching up to do in the Network Server Marketplace.

regards
