Netscape and Individual to Launch 'Netscape Industry Watch
By Individual' - New Content Service for Netscape Netcenter
Netscape Selects Individual to Create and Manage New Business Service to
Provide Industry News and Information For Busy Professionals on the Net
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., and BURLINGTON, Mass., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Netscape
Communications Corporation (Nasdaq:NSCP) and Individual, Inc. (Nasdaq:INDV) announced today
that Individual will architect and manage a one-stop business information marketplace for Netscape's
new online service, Netscape Netcenter. The service, called, ``Netscape Industry Watch by
Individual,'' will give Netscape Netcenter's target audience of busy professionals the vertical industry
news and in-depth information they need to optimize their time on the Internet.
Under the agreement, Individual will also manage content and advertising affiliations that further
expand the service. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Scheduled to debut in November, Netscape Industry Watch by Individual will feature customized
briefs from hundreds of news services and trade magazines; corporate and market intelligence from a
database of 65,000 U.S. companies; breaking industry news from wire services; and highly targeted
vertical industry centers. A preview containing some of the initial elements of the service is now
available on the Netscape Internet site at home.netscape.com .
The content will initially be drawn from Individual's existing Web products and from Individual's
information provider partners. In the future, Netscape Industry Watch by Individual will expand to
include directories of Web-based business resources, a marketplace of leading branded business
publications, searchable archival libraries of data, expert analyst reports and other services
co-developed by Netscape and Individual, and by third parties subcontracted by Individual. The
service will also be optimized to take advantage of the features of Netscape Communicator client
software.

Netscape introduced its members-only Netscape Netcenter online service just two weeks ago as part

Netcenter users to easily access and personalize online business resources from one central location,
which is targeted to the top 30 percent of Internet users.

Initial areas available in Netscape Industry Watch by Individual include a preview release with

telecommunications, healthcare, semiconductor, computer hardware, computer software and
financial services industries. These centers will include highly-targeted news from hundreds of
industry news sources.
Comprehensive business news, backed by Individual's editorial team, including personalized
daily news briefings from a selection of 2,500 precisely defined business topics in more than 30
industries and breaking news and photos updated throughout the day.
Business research, including detailed market statistics on more than 65,000 companies with
dynamically linked references to related news and information on the Web. The service enables
access to competitive research, industry reports and potential business/customer investigation.

symbols, SEC filings, public and private competitors, news and press releases, and local weather
and mapping information.
