Hi sk - I think mgt did a lousy job this time. However, a company will be very very successful if mgt makes little mistake. So, I am giving CTXS mgt uneven mark b/c perfect execution is rare, IMHO. Some people here may not agree with me, but let's not kid ourselves, would we not sell some of our holdings if we were insiders when 1) the mo had pushed the stock ahead of itself; 2) we knew we had more options come our way? or 3) heaven forbids, we knew a bad Q was coming. No, obviously I am not happy, but this is reality.
Will CTXS be able to bounce back, your guess is as good as mine :). Some people like Red and Mike keep their cool and look at the situation from the fundamental stand point. It is a good way to keep the emotional stuff out of the way. Some people, myself included, also factor in the expectation game. That is to say, the psychological impact of the recent debacle and ask, is it fixable. I think so, but unfortunately, I ve no control over it.
Personally, I think CTXS still has the mindshare and Metaframe is a reasonable clever product. Except for the perception problem, I think the product is alright. But, the conventional wisdom is also true: it is mgt that makes a company great. At this stage, I am willing to give mgt a chance to untangle itself from this mess. If it can do it [gracefully, preferrably,] then this episode will blow over in a couple of Qs. If mgt continues to make mistakes, or if this Q is not an anomaly, then that is another story.
Just my 2c
