TLC,
I am writing this post to set the record straight given the fact that recently, the title for this thread changed.
The original title was Emile Vidrine Petition, this came about because the obnoxious manner in which Emile was posting at the Thread Morons, and several people requested that Emile stop posting at the Thread Morons. I quote part of the original post that started this thread:
"Beyond that, it appears there must be some sort of dividing line on SI between what is "harassing, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, abusive, threatening, harmful, vulgar, obscene, tortious, improper or otherwise objectionable." and what is not. Never was this line more indistinct than in the case of religion and religious belief. For example, I personally believe that calling someone of a different religious persuasion "evil" or "blind" is not only abusive, it is harmful and threatening. Further, since I believe that one's religion is an intensely personal matter, I believe that making public judgments about another's religious persuasion could be invasive of their privacy. I believe that a person's religion should never be the butt of vitriolic attacks."
The bottom line of such petition was to determine if someone's rights under the first amendment would be violated by requesting that such poster were to be removed.
Or...
Given the Terms of Use for SI, such petition was valid.
A number of votes were given, etc.
My position was that while the first amendment does guarantee freedom of expression, there is a "right to privacy", which is equally important, and if the terms of use were to be violated, then the petition for removal was fair.
Personally, I also viewed the thread as a vehicle to expose the manner in which zealots really believe and hide under the false pretenses of "christian love".
Clearly, such has been accomplished as we can see out here in public record, how these zealots behave, and in addition, their "wonderful logic" and "understanding of history" takes form.
It appears, now that the title of the thread has been changed to "Religion on SI" all of the above seems irrelevant and indeed "Off topic"
In addition, recently, a post addressed to Len, questioning his motives as to "why do you post in this thread.... a religious thread".... was Len "looking for trouble"?
All this makes me clarify why I posted here, (and why I will now stop).
The only reason I posted here was due to the original intent of the thread.
Along the way, I was questioned that I was trying to "impose my views". Not so.
If anybody wants to believe in whatever they want to believe, that is fine by me, I am willing to respect that, so long so:
1. They reciprocate in such respect, and
2. They do not preach it on me or others.
However, if those "provisos" do not take place, then their beliefs, are fair game for me to express my opinion on them, and certainly I lose respect for them, as they have breached my right to privacy, by the fact that they are "preaching their stuff on me." (and showing no respect for my beliefs in the process.)
Ironically, the post to Len, proves yet again, the intolerance of the religious extremists, indeed, I view this thread as a satirical representation of the entire discussion of the bible..... and all the stories and different representation.
The whole thing began because of an entirely different purpose, and now it has become a circus. Same with the bible and the hundreds of religions, who knows (back then), how it started, and now it is a circus, and absurd one at best.
The zealots really have no knowledge of (or willingness to accept), facts, as proven by that post, religion is what really counts, soon the original discussion degenerated into this orgy of absurdity.
"I am right", "no you are not".... "Yes, I am and you are evil", No the evil one is you, and further you will not be saved" No look it is written here " blah, blah, blah"...... etc.
Before I go I need to say thank you:
1. For providing better entertainment than many of the other threads that have become boring. A jewel of human behavior (and absurdity).
The trouble is that now even this thread has also become:
B O R I N G........(and off topic from the original thread.)
Again, it is like god, in this case and as far as the posting is concerned, the real god of SI changed the title of the thread, and now the whole damned thing does not make sense.... nor my continued presence here.
2. Continuous laughter.
For example: immaculate conception, and now:
Kallah, 1b. (18b) -- Illegitimate and conceived during menstruation.
"....."rational explanation" for Immaculate conceptions, the truth is that for a believer, there is no need to explain immaculate conception, it is taken on faith, because one believe......"
"A rational explanation for immaculate conception" and "no need to explain because it is taken on faith"
Very "cool" Oxymorons I say..... HA HA HA
And one more in this regard:.....
Something to the effect that immaculate conception could happen to a woman by "bathing in a lukewarm bath water" (where I assume male sperm was "swiming about").
When I read that..... I could not stop laughing for straight 5 minutes, then, I stopped laughing, (because I wanted to be sure about this), I went and checked the scientific facts, (just to be sure), and after doing so, (consulted with a Gynecologist).
After careful thought, explanation, and "rationalization" of the above, the response not only was a resounding NO it is not possible! But further, I was told that I could "continue laughing to my heart's content".
Boy, oh boy...... to what lengths will they go....
And so, this post is really more for me than anything else, as I am not inclined to post in a religious related thread. I would be afraid of catching the intellectual bubonic plague.
AAAAAHH !! Life is grand..... Stock market is up, and if I am bored I will come and read these posts, after all, there is humor in the world !!
Oh great religious bishops of the absurd, please save your rantings on me as you waste your time, I am already condemned, (and have been for a long time.)
And remember that according to Frank Zappa:
"There is no hell, there is only France."
To which I say..... I can not wait, imagine all that Burgundy and Bordeaux wines waiting for me !!!
