PRICING: Got your attention. Good. In this industry the key is price competition and I think that is what has spooked the market recently. Recently distribution prices on hard drives has taken a step down. Here is why I am still holding and actually buying more drive stocks. From pricewatch.com I have followed the prices of hard drives in the distribution channel for the past several months. Since capacities per platter have transitioned from 3.2GB/platter 4 months ago to 4.3GB/platter now I compare prices based on the number of platters and heads. Here it is. ---------------Oct 19 98--------------Feb 25 99 2 platter----6.4GB--$140----------8.4GB--$143 4 head 3 platter 5 head------8.4GB--$174----------10GB---$163 3 platter 6 head------10GB---$193----------13GB---$212 So Drive prices are pretty comparable to last quarter.
