I think the number reflects the 3rd Qtr statements from 401Ks, Mutual Funds and Brokerage accounts that show the 09/28/01 value. Until they see the numbers again in January, confidence will not rise. So you are right in suggesting that people are sick at their net worth, which is suffering, although not as great as ENE's employees 401K plan, at least I hope not!
