President of Corporate Communications

DALLAS, TEXAS-- Pioneer Natural Resources Company (NYSE - PXD)
announced today that James W. Leahy has been named Vice President
of Corporate Communications. Marsha Sheffield and Susan Spratlen
who currently direct the public and investor relations programs
report to Leahy.
Leahy has 20 years of experience in investor relations, most
recently as Vice President of Investor and Media Relations for
Burlington Resources. Prior to his position with Burlington,
Leahy directed the investor relations program of Union Pacific
Corporation. Leahy has a B.A. from Rollins College and an M.B.A.
from Columbia University.
