Executive Summary
* Amazon.com's (AMZN: Strong Buy, $87-1/4) average daily traffic was up nearly
50% in the latest MediaMetrix report for the week ending November 21st. This
astounding performance is a sign of Amazon.com's long established brand power as
we head into the peak holiday season. Online shoppers are piling on to the
sites of e*tail brands they recognize and trust. The average daily unique
visitor count of 1.2 million was an acceleration from the previous three weeks'
flat trend of about 800,000 unique visitors.
* The weekly MediaMetrix data represents average daily unique visitor count for
the week ending November 21st, or one week prior to the Thanksgiving week.
* VitaminShoppe.com's (VSHP: Strong Buy, $13-1/2) traffic is holding up well
after a stellar showing for the prior week. Traffic count is 4 times that of
MotherNature.com.
* eToys (ETYS: Strong Buy, $64-3/8) and ToysRUs.com maintain the relative rank
shown in last week's report. We believe heavy traffic on ToysRUs.com is
detrimental to ToysRUs.com, as they cannot handle the traffic. As of today,
response time for ToysRUs.com and KBKids.com is still noticeably slower than
eToys.
* We believe we're not done yet seeing the uptrend on ETYS and AMZN stocks as we
enter the peak holiday shopping season, and in our view these are must-own
names to capitalize on what will be perceived as a critical period of online
shopping adoption. We reiterate our STRONG BUY rating on ETYS, AMZN and VSHP.
