There's no reason to insult my intelligence with the above PM. I didn't just step off the bus. And I've been around the block more times than you've had hot dinners.
After I got this PM, I thought I'd give you the benefit of the doubt and wait for a PM that had some basis in reality. I thought you had enough guts to take responsibility for your own actions right or wrong and talk to me man to man.
Well, you didn't. I got no further PMs, even though I know others have been communicating with you about this.
You started this on the open thread. Now we will finish it on the open thread also. So we will talk right here, right now.
I like to deal in facts.
The facts are:
1. You banned me from your thread on 05/08/2005 at 12:43:28 AM, and this is unequivocally and irrefutably documented in the SI Admin logs, as you very well know.
2. You then posted about it 9 minutes later to Carolyn:

4. I got a number of rather concerned PMs from people, some of them shocked, asking me what happened. I told them I didn't have a clue. You didn't bother to say anything to the thread about it at all, and you put some of them in very awkward positions.

I got my facts straight, Reid. I checked and double-checked. None of the SI Admin people or anyone else on the site other than you had anything to do with this. There was no "glitch" in their servers or anything murky and mysterious at all. I asked them to explain in detail; they did explain in detail. There is zero doubt, the records from the transaction logs are very clear and unambiguous. There was no problem with "filing of posts" or anything like that at all, and you know it.
As to why you did what you did, I will leave that for you to explain to the thread, since you didn't have the guts to explain it to me on a PM, and instead gave me a laughably lame excuse that not even my 11 year-old son is dumb enough to swallow. And that is why I am posting it here. Anyway, if you had some problem with me, you could have spoken to me man to man, via PM, telephone, fax, e mail, carrier pigeon, whatever. But you didn't. YOU took it to the open thread, so it is entirely appropriate that I also use the same forum you chose. Anyway, I am sure you would have banned me again and told the thread God-knows-what if I had first sent this to you on a PM.
Well, now you can tell them whatever you like. And you can ban me again too, since you have made it clear that it is your thread. But please don't make it any worse than it is by making up some cryptic, serpentine hopelessly improbable explanation as to how it was SI's fault.
Reid, I did nothing to warrant being treated this way, and you know it. I have done nothing but treat people---including you---especially you---with respect, courtesy, and consideration. I have gone out of my way to help people here to the fullest possible extent, and many people over the years know that and no doubt that's why they've bookmarked me. And I am not looking for anything in return, not a dime, not a thank you, nothing. I do it for free and for fun.
If you have a problem with that, then ban me again.
One thing for sure, it won't matter to me, because I have no desire to be associated with you or this thread if this exemplifies your approach to people.
You should be ashamed of yourself, Reid. I thought you were a much better man than that. And I thought we were friends.
Obviously I was wrong on both counts.
