james, I've see too many miracles to deny God's ability to perform them. Where in my post did I infer I ask God to do all my work with miracles....no where. I don't waste miracles on travia. I would think that the Apostle John writing the book of Revelation was a miracle. He was blind and had visions that have all come true and will come true. The only reason that John was on Patmos was they tried to boil him in oil and couldn't kill him.all these were after the book of Acts. It's obvious in the scripture you quoted that Pual didn't think the perfect had come and that he still saw though a glass darkly. At any rate, you will find no friend on mind that will confrm what you just said. I do not hesitate to ask God's will and if He tells me to pray for something , I pray for it even if my pea brain says it's impossible. 3 yrs ago our Mexico ministry was struggling, now becuase we asked and God gave us the plan...we have more money than we know what to do with in building the churches in Mexico. We have finished 3 churches and have three more in process(last two yrs.). The last one God saved a drug dealer in mexico and he has donated everything to God. One item was an entire country club which we turned into a church<gg> i think your example about the wine as a disinfectant is a perfect example of what the issue is. And what I beleive. If my brother needs food, i don't pray for a miracle. I don't say. brother let me pray that you be warmed and full. I get my checkbook out and feed him... no miracles are needed. If my neighbor needs to be saved.. I pray for that miracle. For salvation is certainly the greatest miracle there is and that alone proves your statement about Acts is incorrect. Millions of salvations have happened and there is no greater miracle. All after the book of Acts.
Driving to work one day in april 18 yrs ago a truck ran a stop sign on a rainy day and pulled right in front of me. I had no time to brake so i just ask God for protection and went right under the bed of the truck at about 40 mph. I ducked and prayed. It peeled the top right off and i didn't even recieve a scratch. When the truck driver saw me walk out he turned as white as a sheep. I witnessed to him while waiting for the police and he got saved(you will never convince that truck driver that God doesn't do miracles either). That truck driver went from he thought he was going to jail for killing me to saved all in about 7 minutes. I then went to work like nothing had happened. This is one of the many miracles. I would list them all, I have a prayer log and I never take God's power ligthly. I thank Him continually for all He's done.
but, if someone said 'Steve, you deny thse miracles are me cut your head off".... I would hand them the blade w/o a second thought<gg> But, Mark chapter 16 says that these signs will follow those who believe. Signs follow believers...believers don't follow signs<gg> It's been my experience that miracles don't really effect the world very much. Sometimes it effects( the truck driver for instance) but don't count on it... usually a worldly person well rationaize the miracle later on. Demons eventually convince the person that natural causes were at play and God didn't do a miracle. jesus confirms this in Luke chapter 16. When the rich person ask to send Lazarus back to preach to his brothers for he was in Hades and he waited that miracle to tell his brothers the truth. Jesus said that would do no good. Let them beleive moses and the prophets.
I had a person say if this God of yours is so powerful then what is my social security number. I said ..God is God but this isn't a parlor game... well driving home God told me a deep dark secret about that person.. then He told me not to tell him til I got instructions.. So, I filed it away and said nothing. even if God had given me his soc. ser. number(and I would never test God like that) it would have proved nothing. Later the person would have been convinced that I knew it from natural means. So, anyway..a year later we were talking in my office and God told me to reveal the dark secret to the person. I did and that person has never been the same. His words were "no one can know this..there has to be a God and God did tell you)
Miracles require faith. If I can do it with the natrual talents and resources that God has given me..that's not a miracle. i don't waste time asking God for things He as already given me the means to accomplish. I also pray and find His will first. I use my miracle praying for things He has asked me to do and it looks like there is no way. But, regardless of the impossiblity of it. i don't argue with God when He gives me the orders. If the servant in this relationship not the master. He calls the shots not me.<ggg> Don't know what you mean by false pride..I think Paul had real pride<gg> Laying out all the scriptures it's easy to see it was there and also his prideful character left. For his Colossians view of MARK is a changed attitude compared to his Acts view where he didn't want Mark along. The key is ask God first, don't just pray for a bunch of stuff that you think is important. that's spirtual forgery. When you fill in the check, you better make sure God has signed it. If you try to sign a check for a miracle..it ain't happening<gg> I'm not arguing with you on this . i think beleive as you want.... I NOT SAYING YOU SHOULD ASK FOR MIRACLES. You live your fiath and I'll live mine. But, I'll never stop seeking God's will and if He instructs me to do the impossible.. I'll press ahead and go with Him instead of telling Him miracles don't happen anymore ..can you please change your instructions<ggg> I do have dreams I've posted about investments. God has revealed the future to me and investments have prospered several times. They are are documented in the threads. Since if it happens i post it. Then invest in it and it comes true..sometimes to the very day. But, I don't determine when this happens. God does....how is your INCE???? |
