Dear "Pumping Iron"

What?. At your advanced age? <GG>

Seriously though, DJ, thats great. I last got inspired when I was 35 and it worked wonders. Now, owing to back problems, I,m working on addition by subtraction. Removing Tanquerey and other(delicious) colesterol building food from the diet. Down 6 lbs first month, its a start.

I'm sure you probably already know this, but the 5 day a week thing might not be best. Usually 48 hours between lifting is recommended to let the muscle tissue recover. I suspect you are rotating muscle groups though.

Re: Retirement

but in contrast to you and others on the thread I guess the pile I'm hoarding plays a substantial part in my retirement dreams. OTH I dont take that too seriously, I dont even know how much me and my wife should have to retire in a decent fashion.<<

Au contraire monsieur! I/We are in probably the same boat as you. We have the investment acct to attempt to provide the basic retirement and the trading acct to add(or not) incrementally to the final result.

As to "how much you should have to retire in decent fashion" I can save you some time on that. Fidelity(among others) have these plug in the #s programs where you put your age, age you would like to retire, current income, assuming 4%inflation, 11% annual return, etc..
At the end it will tell you that you need to be saving 3X your current annual income each year for the next 20 years in order to have the 5 billion $s you will need at age 70.
GGGG

>>OTH I dont take that too seriously<<

That's encouraging. I know too many 40 to 55 year olds who look at the race to break that finish line tape at age 70(or whatever)with "enough" dollars that they fail to recognize that it doesn't include a fountain of youth. They are failing to enjoy being 45 now. Now I'm not saying that 70 can't be great(And there are certainly 70+ lurkers out there who could let me know :-)) But I'm 47 now and I Know 27 felt better. So its not hard to extrapolate.

Best Regards

John

PS My 91 year old father-in-law's often repeated advice..

Whatever you decide to do....

Don't get old.
