Bob, I made the argument (along with 2 distinguished pro-trade economists) that Bush is protecting PROFITS, but not jobs. That is the worst possible policy for Americans. I suggest you reread the post (and the two referenced articles). Kerry is definitely pro free trade. If you read those articles regarding Kerry: "Addressing those fears isn't protectionist. On the contrary, it's an essential part of any realistic political strategy in support of world trade. That's why the Nelson Report, a strongly free-trade newsletter on international affairs, recently had kind words for John Kerry. It suggested that he is basically a free trader who understands that "without some kind of political safety valve, Congress may yet be stampeded into protectionism, which benefits no one." The media is taking a simple minded approach and getting it wrong.
