In judicial terms "conservative" is more likely to mean strict constructionist then activist social conservative.

Even strict constructionists are reading something into it in a way by insisting on articulation when it's not clear that that was intended.

That argument is a real reach. If the document doesn't say anything about a subject than its not reading in to it to state that fact. If a principle doesn't have to be "articulated" than whoever is interpreting the constitution can have it mean anything they want it to mean. I don't find judicial rule in the constitution even in the "penumbra".
