And here's the problem with it, and the reason it should not be built:

"The question was: 'Are we coordinating with Southwest Airlines?' The answer is yes, we are. Our lobbyist is Southwest Airlines' lobbyist. We picked them for that very reason. And they are currently sitting on the sidelines waiting for there to be the first inkling of taxpayer subsidy. And as soon as there's taxpayer subsidy, the fight becomes personal, if you will."

As to SWA's opposition, SWA is a radically different business than it was in 1989 and it is far less dependent on the traffic from Love Field to Hobby and HOU versus then. Or other Texas cities.

But there is no reason for public money to be involved in this project. If they can't make a go of it it shouldn't be built.
