NQL Inc. and Microsoft Work Together to Deliver Content Management Features
For Microsoft Office XP
NQL Technology Extends Office XP Smart Tags With Access to Content From External Sources
SANTA ANA, Calif., May 31 /PRNewswire/ -- NQL Inc. (Nasdaq: NQLI) today
announced the availability of NQL technology-based content management features
for the Microsoft Office XP environment. In a related announcement, Microsoft
Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) announced retail availability of Office XP today. With
NQL ContentAnywhere(TM), Office XP users can quickly access real-time data
within Office XP from sources outside Microsoft Office such as the Web, legacy
systems, databases, contact managers, and other external sources.

The NQL ContentAnywhere platform enhances smart tags, Office XP features
which can help users access information by automatically linking them to rich,
up-to-date corporate and Web information directly from within Office
documents. Similar to hyperlinks, smart tags link words or phrases in
Microsoft Office documents or Web pages with related content hosted on
servers, Web sites, and in files. Smart tags can also be extended to automate
custom applications.

"Our goal for Office XP is to provide customers with tools to help them
work smarter, which includes easier access to information," said Lisa Gurry,
product manager for Office at Microsoft. "NQL's enhancements to Office XP's
content management features make Office XP an even more compelling tool."

"We share one of Microsoft's key goals for Office XP -- to make
productivity simple," said NQL vice president of marketing Denny Michael. "By
combining the power of our technology with Office XP, we believe we bring
value to the millions of people who are already familiar with the Office
environment."
NQL has created several smart tag utilities for download, which recognize
words or phrases and launch related programs on the user's desktop.

As an example, an NQL-powered smart tag can be used to track inventory
from within Office by a user simply typing a part number in a Word XP
document. After typing the part number, a smart tag powered by NQL technology
could access content relevant to that value such as inventory levels, price,
or description and present options for the needed information. NQL-powered
smart tags can use other words or "values" entered in Word XP or Excel XP
documents to retrieve data from any source."
