I really don't understand the fuss about company X implementing their own JVM because that was supposedly the whole idea from day one. The issue is whether or not the intersection of the Java brand and other brands conform to the standard over which Sun has the final word. It seems to me that Sun should create a wholly independent software arm to oversee the specification process and stop asking Javasoft to walk the line. It's becoming problematic, at least that's the perception.
