There is no fragmentation. If you are running Froyo on an HTC and you are running Froyo on a Motorola and you are running Froyo on a Samsung, they can are ALL run the same apps and the same software in exactly the same way. Even the HTC Sense interface or the TouchWiz interface or the MotoBlur interface that each one uses when you buy them, all have access to the same features and that interface can be replaced with the same one in all 3. The specific brand user interface differences are mainly in addon widgets, and if the app selection screen will scroll up/down or left/right, and things like that. And even those differences can be made exactly the same by downloading for example the LauncherPro free app (or ADW launcher or whatever launcher you prefer) in ALL 3 phones and have all 3 phones behave EXACTLY the same down to the launching of an app. Again, apps look EXACTLY THE SAME no matter what launcher you use to launch them.

I use a Samsung Vibrant with Froyo and TouchWiz launcher and using my wife's MyTouch 4G with the Sense launcher is a no brainer. And as I said, if you wanted the two to be absolutely and exactly 100% the same downright to the all launcer interface, just download LauncherPro (or for that matter the launcher that you best like). That's the beauty of Android. The choice is YOURS. It makes you have a phone that YOU like, not one that Steve Jobs likes that he decided for you. People with iPhones are sheep... not unlike the 1984 Apple ad... Apple was talking about their own brainwashed sheep users in that ad... that much is clear... and I'm sure just like their same iPhone, those same sheep all drive the same car, wear the same cloths, shoes, have the same hair style etc... etc.. etc...

if you want to be sheep, have inferior hardware and software that you overpay for that you can not even upgrade its battery or add memory or have real multitasking and be tied to a physical computer with iloonytunes then buy an iPhone... but if you want a phone that reflects your individual style and gets you superfast and upgradeable hardware, 4G speeds and true multitasking, for a great price, then Android is your answer...
