That's a really thoughtful point, Ten.

You go from "that's MY money" to "someone owes me."

I once read a quote from FDR that said, effectively, that if future generations ended up burdened by these programs (new deal) they will have failed.

The concept of such a metric never crossed the minds of modern progressives.
