"Now that is pull!"

God takes good care of his wrestling partners. I didn't have to do a thing. Of course, if God took better care of them, I would have been hired for the teaching position.

Stanfurd Guy was pissed one of his employees didn't get the teaching job at the CC; his ego was hurt. The medical director at the VA, also the medical director at the school, was pissed because she had a totally incompetent woman from Texas running the RT Department, which was one the 5 worst in the Bay Area.

He calls her up and sez, "How come you didn't pick my guy with the MS in physiology?"
She says, "Really? Physiology? I need a director; let me see what we can do."
That's how a Respiratory Physiologist GS-11 came to be in charge of a bunch of Medical Machine Techs- Inhalation Therapists. Chief at SFVA called her and said, "Good idea; I'm gonna do it."
Eventually, we all became respiratory therapists, but that took an act of Congress, and about 6 years. Eventually, there was only one department better than mine; the rest of us were pretty equal.

I went from being a therapist at Stanfurd to running a department of about 10 people, for just about the same pay. VA salaries were very low. Despite special rates for Bay Area COLA, and despite being at the very top of the wage scale when I left, the lowest paid chief in the area was making about $6K/year more than I was, even tho I had more years in the position and better professional credentials.
