Thanks for the CA update.

At first I thought, "What a relief to see a little sanity, even though the craziness is thousands of miles away from me." But then I saw the REASONS given for defeating the the measure: that it would "raise rates." One hope that was political cunning, but given the ad hoc maneuvering, I doubt that the thinking was that fast.

As I got out of bed this morning I was already boring my wife by making comparisons with CA, saying, "It's as if we took out a mortgage to pay our utilities bills."

I guess if it were West Virginia that was in trouble I would be more sympathetic. But here is an immensely wealthy state that is poor-mouthing about raising electrical rates to pay for what they are consuming.

Just be glad they are not an independent country. That's how wars get started. All they would need is a Saddam to lead them out of their energy crisis.
