In addition to this being true, it is also significant that if the electoral college had been updated according to the results of the 2000 census, more electoral votes would have been switched to the Republicans, I believe.

In any case, the Republicans will get a slightly better midterm house than otherwise because of the 2000 census. If Gore ends up in office, the Republicans could do pretty good in 2 years. No more excuses for Republicans to be lazy on election day, that's for sure. [By then, the asses will have forgotten all about the 2000 election, but the elephants have longer memories.]
