Perhaps some OSX investor's portfolio didn't outperform cash in the Sept. to Dec. period but I can say that every single name in my portfolio had a very nice increase during that time period. In fact, it was one of better times of the year.
I certainly don't think I'm unique in that regard.
It depended on what sector of the OSX you were in. If it was the US drillers, you rocked. If it was offshore int'l, you cried. If it was OTCG names you lost. If it was NG focused E&P names you won.
Iso is right-if you owned the OSX you would have been better off in cash but, who in their right mind would actually want to own the OSX??
Sector selection was, and continues to be, the key to performance.

Will we look back 6 months from now and find that the recent under performers have become the winners? I think so, for some.
