Steve,

In WOW I have several groups of stocks. One is called "active". These are the ones that I scan for possible trades. They are the usual ones talked about on "beginners". IBD weekend review etc.. When one of these stocks goes into a downtrend or gets old without returning to the IBD pages it goes into another group called "old". Actually I'm not great about keeping this all updated but this is my methodology for my database. I also have another group that I watch called the "Money 30" consisting of 30 large cap stocks. One other called "loosers", you can guess what they are. When I do system tests I use the "all groups" button.

I have two ways that I test:

1.Put up two price charts, each with different sytems with b/s signals showing and profit at top left or chart. I then can quickly zoom through my database looking at two things, profit and time in trade. I do this as I'm trying to develop a system and I'm changing it maybe 20 times in a night. It gives me a feel if I'm going in the right direction. Also, I usually put DAHL up as the reference. I'm only working on longer term systems currently.

2.Systems Test Reports are what I do when I want to get down a dirty and really get the numbers.

I don't use Random but it sounds interesting. I do use BUY AND HOLD as a comparison to check a system against. I also always use DAHL as a comparison. Maybe Clay should test DAHL against RANDOM.

I'm real new to all this and I see you have 10 yrs experience and were involved with the P** board group.

Thanks for your input and I'll see you in New Jersey,

David
