There are numerous companies which sell below book value per share. I bought into one a year ago - Chase Manhattan Bank. It had consistently sold below book value because of uninspired, plodding management. Well, a lot changed in a year. The point is, even today, you can find many companies in the same boat. Get out a stock database and filter through to list those selling below book. The number will surprise you.
As for MU selling @ $8, I remember 6-8 months ago, people in this very forum were saying MU would never go below $60.
Never say never!
