Global One and New World Telephone Team Up to Deliver Global Frame Relay Service in Hong Kong
HONG KONG, December 16, 1998 - Global One, the international joint venture of Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom, and Sprint, and New World Telephone Limited (NWT) today announced an Interconnect Carrier Agreement to provide Global Frame Relay service to corporate customers in Hong Kong.

Global Frame Relay is a managed network service which supports integrated media transmission including digitized voice, fax, data and video in a single line dealing for multi-location corporate networking environment, such as LAN-to-LAN inter-networking and multi-drop leased line applications. In offering Global Frame Relay, NWT provides customers with high network resilience and assurance of uninterrupted transmission. In addition, NWT has designated a team of technical experts to proactively monitor the local network performance on a 24-hour basis in order to provide top quality service at all times.
With over 350 switches in a unified Frame Relay service network, Global Frame Relay covers more cities around the world with a common technology than any other similar service in the market today. Large national and international businesses worldwide have increasingly come to rely on Global Frame Relay as a cost-effective alternative to private lines, combining high bandwidth capacity and an ability to handle effectively burst-on-demand transmissions. Global Frame Relay provides customers with a wide range of Committed Information Rates, and port access speeds from 56/64 Kbps to 2 Mbps. Speeds up to 45 Mbps are planned for 1999 delivery.
The expansion of Global Frame Relay across the world's farthest-reaching Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)-based network is progressing around the world and will cover more than 200 cities in 46 countries by the end of 1998.
