Shapiro is definitely not a heavy weight. I agree with his assessment of Clark's speech, though. I just happened to catch it on the tube. Definitely won't get him elected to anything. But these speeches don't mean anything. Who watched Gephardt's speech, let alone can recall that he's using it over and over. That's not discipline, as Shapiro says, it's the speech of someone who's been in the game a very, very long time and has a speech for every issue. Clark hasn't and it should surprise no one. Let's wait and see how he does in two or three months. Then we can all pull out our critical stuff.
