OT a little: Has anyone any thoughts about the popular notion that Islam is basically a peaceful religion and that the current terrorist camp is just an extremist position that isn't native to Islam. If that is true, why are even the so-called "moderate" Arab states that are behind the U.S. in the attack on the Taliban still the most brutal and dictatorial over their people. Christian believers of all stripes are severely restricted and in some cases physically tortured for the faith of Christ. It seems to me, and someone correct me if I am wrong, that WHEREVER Islam is the "state religion", it is merciless, intolerant, and ruthless to Christians, Jews, and other religions. And I haven't even touched on the cruel laws pertaining to theft (chop off the hands) and other social crimes. Any thoughts by anyone about this? Is the popular media feeding us a line in the hopes of stifling public outcry and preventing (rightly) hate crimes against American Moslems. Also, check out the Voice of the Martyrs website for recent brutal persecution of Christians in Pakistan.
