To All: Here is what Briefing.com discussed last night (2/26/97)..... NOVELL INC. (NOVL) 12 7/8 CLOSED. Networking software concern posted a fiscal 1st qtr net of $0.15 a share last night, below Wall Street estimates of $0.18 a share. Results were also two cents below year-ago net which also included $61 million in revenue from discontinued or sold product lines and a one-time payment associated with the sale of UnixWare to Santa Cruz Operations (SCOC). Revenue in the latest quarter fell 14% to $374.8 million from $437.9 million as the company experienced "market weakness" in Europe and Japan. However, the company shipped more than 250,000 network-server-operator systems in its fiscal 1st qtr and is making strides in selling its new versions of Netware that include Internet functions. Yet, the company faces many uphill battles which make many investors nervous as the company not only faces competition from Microsoft, but also from IBM and Netscape. Stock is called to open unchanged to possibly down $0.25 to $0.50 this morning. ====================================================================== There seems to be a bit of over reation.
