I have been granted a reprieve by the actions of the GSMA. "Members were asked to vote whether or not they support the use and the promotion of the term "3GSM" by the GSM Association and the Industry, with the understanding that individual members may use other brand names in their individual markets if they prefer". The above resolution has been passed. By this action the GSMA has formally adopted 3GSM which is part of the GSM family of technologies, with 3GSM representing the third generation component. "3GSM is the TOTAL BUSINESS SOLUTION which delivers services at a technical level on standards for UMTS and, in some markets, EDGE, as defined by the 3GPP." << - Eric -
