Well, it's one of the GG principles which I like: buying everyone who might end up the winner, and then winnowing the list (see, I don't think the book is all bad).
If NTAP is the winner, buying now will be like buying MSFT in 1993. If they aren't the winner, it'll be like buying Apple in 1993. Splitting your money between them, and then shifting it all to MSFT once they clearly were the winner, would have worked out OK.
Research is never a waste of time, no matter how many times you change your conclusions. I agree, though, it often feels that way. Holding onto a loser because an investor doesn't want to admit a mistake, is a classic, well-proven tendency for investors. It's a trap we are all prone to make. |
