Del,

I was pleasantly surprised to see you on the SI forum. I cut my teeth on a $15 student version of Turbo Pascal in 1985. For years, the Borland family of development tools were unparalleled in both cost and features. Like many of my engineering counterparts, I only reluctantly moved to other vendors due to Borland's lost focus. And am excited to see Borland re-emerge as the industry leader in development tools and technology.

I agree with Shroder in his assessment of your performance. Delphi, C++ Builder, and JBuilder are all best-of-breed products. I am especially excited about Borland's push into the enterprise, as I am a developer of enterprise products. I understand the reasoning behind the acquisition of VSGN, and I believe that it will strengthen Borland's image as a world-class enterprise technology provider. Also, the VSGN technology and engineering talent are well worth the price. I only hope that you are working hard to retain the VSGN talent. Also, I want to say that your commitment to making deliverable commitments has been excellent. Many of us who had given up on Borland now see that you can deliver quality products on time.

Keep up the good work. My vote is for the VSGN acquisition.
