I am "preaching about the death of the industry" - wow. Everything is a nefarious plot to you.

What Spain does about their solar subsidies is their business. Its their taxes after all.

"Kick starting" solar and wind and whatever in our country sounds fine. Trouble is, these new things are gonna have to run on their own without massive subsidies if they're going to be major sources of power. I hope - SINCERELY - that there are technical breakthroughs in solar power that make it competitive. Then we won't have to even talk about kick starting and subsidies, etc.

I think proponents ought to recognize that we're not gonna adopt some wholly different energy system (a mammoth undertaking) to replace fossil fuels and nuclear that imposes costs on us that are a lot higher than what fossil fuels and nuclear are costing us. I say that not because I'm in a plot to defeat these alternatives - its just a matter of being realistic.
