If the policy has to be cheaper, that will force more efficiency into health care delivery.

So price controls force efficiency? I'm hard pressed to give that even a "maybe." But surely you recognize that "it's not a given, at any rate."

I want to get the market to offer lower prices through competition and direct purchase. You seem to be on board with direct purchase but then want price controls? I don't get it.

Nothing you've proposed has been passed into law by the people you support.

I presume you're talking about Republicans. I am not now nor have I ever been a Republican.

But sure, the Republicans never did anything about the problems. They wouldn't even be thinking about it now were it not for the push from the Dems. So give the Dems points for taking the initiative. But that doesn't mean they're right about how to solve the problems. The Republicans are closer to being right. If you want to say "screw them" for not having done something when they had power, fine, but it's cutting off your nose to spite your face to buy their disaster proposal when there are better options out there. Do you really want to show them what for more than you want a successful health care system?
