Bentone - I never said that, you idiot. Can't you converse on anything above a third grade level?
I was talking about the motivations of two people. They were Jefferson Davis and Stonewall Jackson.
Here I am, talking to a moron. Then again, what does that say about me? lol

Here is a hint that might help you. Base your responses to what people actually say, not what what you guess they seem to think.
"you seemed to think the civil war was about 'states rights'

Actually the Civil War was fought by those involved for many many reasons. Each individual had his own reasons. The Irish for example, got off ships from Ireland and were immediately put in uniform to fight for the North. Others landed in the South and ended up fighting for the South. All they wanted to do was escape the potato famine in Ireland.
Many Virginians fought the Yankees for invading Virginia.
I could go on and on.
Rich Southern slave holders fought to preserve their way of life which included slavery.
Poor Southern farm boys fought because they were from the South and the South was in a war with the North.
In my opinion slavery would have ended in the South without the Civil War. In my opinion the death of hundreds of thousands of Americans and blacks was not necessary. In my opinion there are two men from that era who receive way too much praise and adoration. They are Abraham Lincoln and Robert E. Lee.
I know this is far too complicated for you to comprehend. So I will just stop.

What am I doing? I'm talking to a moron. Unbelievable! LOL
