Hi all; Re the suggestion that the military not be allowed to vote while onboard ship, or that federal employees not be allowed to vote at all...

This seems like a good idea to me. We should prevent social security recipients from voting, too. When people leave the employ of the US gov, then they would get their voting rights back. That way, they could vote double until an equivalent number of elections had gone by.

More seriously, my big problem with the Democrats is their tendency to see the simple solution to complicated problems. The one that comes to mind at the moment is campaign finance reform. As a result of rules largely brought in by the left, politicians must now spend far longer begging for money than they ever had to before. If citizens were still allowed to give as much as they want to, to the candidates of their choice, our politicians wouldn't be out there grandstanding right now. The primary reason that this election is still being fought is because the fight is filling the coffers of the two parties. That is, they are getting the public all riled up so that we send them money. If they didn't have to collect $50 from every grandma and POed trailer part right-to-lifer, they would likely be a lot more statesmanlike.
