Eric, let's look this dog from a different angle:
(1) Internet/Intranet is still new to most of the companies and most of the people, but is it a trend? Is it inevidable? come to think about the late 70's and early 80's how people looks at the 8 bits PC.
Without Internet, you and I and all others on this thread cannot even becoming emotional even if we all want to share our feeling.
I, for one, was not so crazy about using computer at home and I am a computer professional because I think computer is my work to bring butter and bread home, definitely not worth to give more time.
But now, my attitude towards computer has changed because the Internet. Because I can reach out beyond my house not just a gateway to hook to my company's machine but to the world...
Think about this, the Internet/Intranet will have much bigger recognition in our world, more people will be hooked to this and NOVELL is in this game, it is not late for NOVELL, because the majority of the world is still trying to figure this new tool out. And look this quarter's figure, it actually increses 41% on Internet/Intranet related sales comparing to Q1/96 figure, this figure tells you something ... If this figure goes the other way, I would curse it and dump the dog.
(2) People on this NOVELL thread are hooked, they curse the stock, they dumped the stock but they comes back and buy again or short again, do you know why? We are all addicted, Internet is a silent friend, friends need talk, without participating this thread, where do they find another friend like this one? This silent friend is very unique, it good for the soul for the long term.
Honestly, I kind like this thread because it keeps me young again.
(3) Novell is still in a transitional mood, companies renews their Novell products becuase they see more general purposes out of Novell softwares, they want e-mail, they want Internet, they want application, they want file sharing, they want a lot of function in one box, we all agree NOVELL has good products, good product never die, they just sleep a bit when their sales people tries to learn the new game themselve.
(4) So, what went wrong? why are we so mad?
Personally, I think Peter Troop should be removed from his position, replace him with someone who is more informative, more knledgeable and more friendly, not just copy the same note to whoever asks disregard their question. I believe to replace Mr. Troop is much easier than to replace the BOD.
With a friendly PR man, we, investors, at least can reach someone in NOVELL officially, that is also good for the souls.
(5) I don't think I am smart than anyone on this thread, I definitely know very little about networking, forget about sales, I have to trust someone's expertise in NOVELL, I see the future, I see NOVELL is going into that future, I know the pilot is not that good, but a good one will turn out sooner or later because sharks are everywhere...
(4) Do you buy LOTTO?
When a lotto number didn't turn out in my hand, what I do? nothing, just bad luck, I kept on buying, just wishing ...
(5) We were in as low as 8 3/4 not long ago, can we take another hit? I look this dog in a totally diferent way, I know this dog is a good one but just don't have good dicipline yet, give sometime it will turn, I keep on reminding myself, good product never die ...
(6) Look on the bright side, if anyone can weather through NOVELL and gain at end after a long journey, I think it is mentally healthy for future participation in the stock market because this experience is so unique ... Buying/selling is only a matter of diciplinations, this dog teachs me a good lesson and it trained me the meaning of patience and long term ...
Well, I must stop, it an addict ... worse than drug or smoke ...
Regards.
