El:
I do not have the cite but the SEC ruled (actually made it clear) yesterday or so that the National Accounting firms should not be in the computer systems consulting business. I have not read the order, itself; I am only going on news reports and an interview with Arthur Levitt.
The reason, of course, is that Accounting rules can be computerized and the ability to audit the results, impaired, because of the mere volume of information, and the complexity of determining just what 'rule' the program is using.
On its face, this will be a tremendous boost for Compaq. In the 'olde days' (3 days ago) this put the accounting firms between the customer and CPQ.
Now, CPQ, with what may be the biggest staff, next to IBM, is in a position to fill what will be a huge vacuum.
Couple this with the new product rollout from Intel and Microsoft, and Oracle, (with whom CPQ is the lead tech partner) and CPQ should be, in theory, in the cat bird seat.
But of course, we've heard this before. :))
BTW, I caught the original Heraldo, with the split screen and he did become UNGLUED!!!! "We were very amused." |
