You are correct, Al. The danger to Schwab, however, is precisely the in and out type of day-trading games that its subsidiary, Mayer and Schweitzer (MASH) seems to love to play. In my opinion, MASH has been a cancer on Schwab's underbelly. If you will note the NASDAQ activity from April to the present time, Schwab's price descent has been consistent with the price descent of the internet stocks. Notice also that the recent short rally of internet stocks has also benefited SCH prices...Unfortunately, MASH's favorite ploy, in my opinion, is to participate heavily in strategies that are apparently designed to bring internet stock prices down, an extremely self-defeating strategy that has badly hurt the price of its parent company, Schwab since April....If the internet stock prices continue to suffer from this strategy, do not be surprised to see Schwab stock price to drop to the 30s by October. Just an opinion based on observation.
