i agree that the current economic state is what is causing the most layoffs... but i think as we transition to "new" economy there are a lot of "middle-men" jobs cut out as people begin to buy direct from the supplier..plus outsourcing...etc... in the long run i do agree with u that america will be able to reposition its workforce but in the short term with a faltering economy, the new efficencies introduced will make job losses even more severe as companies cut staff
