ONTARIO, CALIF. (March 24) BUSINESS WIRE -March 24, 1999--

Orders For 1999 Deployment Are Under An
 Existing Multiple Year Contract

MicroTel International, Inc. (NASDAQ Small Cap: MCTLC) today announced
its 41%-owned affiliate Digital Transmission Systems, Inc. (DTS)
(OTCBB:DTSX), a leading telecommunications network access equipment
manufacturer, has received several orders for FlexT1 network access
equipment from Nextel Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:NXTL), a wireless
communications services company headquartered in McLean Virginia.

The orders are for initial 1999 deployment requirements in continuation
of a multiple year contract and total approximately $2.4 million.

Nextel deploys the FlexT1 unit with standardized CSU functionality and
T1 performance monitoring at each cell site in the network. FlexT1
products integrate voice signals from cell site radio equipment and
signals from other sources (such as data services) and transmits them
back to Mobile Switching Offices of wireless service providers to
manage and non-intrusively troubleshoot their networks rapidly. "Nextel
is committed to delivering a powerful new level of high quality
communication services and the networking equipment from DTS will help
us accomplish that" commented Gary Ottosi, vice president of network
