Comverse Technology's messaging equipment selected by American Portable Telecom for its digital wireless PCS network; Initial order worth more than $6 million

WOODBURY, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 10, 1996--Comverse Technology Inc. (NASDAQ:CMVT) announced today that it has received an initial order worth more than $6 million for the company's TRILOGUE(R) INfinity system from American Portable Telecom (NASDAQ:APTI). The Comverse system will enable APT to provide a variety of enhanced telecommunications services, such as call answering, call return, and message notification via short message service, on its new digital wireless Personal Communications Services (PCS) network. Comverse Technology's TRILOGUE INfinity enhanced services platform, which is marketed to both wireless and wireline network operators, enables PCS and other digital wireless network operators to provide, among other services, voice/fax/text messaging, information services, interactive voice response, call return, which allows subscribers to reply to messages through a single keystroke, and Short Message Service Center (SMSC), which allows the display of brief text messages on the PCS handset. Through its new IP/SN (Intelligent Peripheral/Service Node) capabilities, TRILOGUE can also support next-generation Intelligent Network services such as personal number, call screening and mobile attendant.
