Kind of makes you wonder just how long it will be until top scientists start accepting offers from research labs in other countries

Ever wondered what history would be like if Einstein did not flee Nazi Germany?

So, it's okay to mess around with plant and animal DNA, but not with human DNA, etc

I would like to believe Bush knows what DNA stands for. Somehow, I can't ignore the possibility that he doesn't.

Anyway, the stem cell debate/circus has only two focal points in the eyes of the US administration - (1) abortion (because stem cells can be harvested with great ease from fetuses) (2) cloning (not really the same thing, but they seem to fear if stem cell generation is allowed, that will lead to cloning of humans)

That the advancement of science cannot be stopped by a ban but will just migrate elsewhere, and that there are enormous benefits (cures to mortal diseases & paralysis, possibility of regenerating lost/dysfunctional organs or even limbs, etc) does not seem to figure into the debate at this point. It is all about abortion and cloning. Nevermind those are not really what stem cells are about...
