LOL Ted, not even Steve Benen's spin makes any sense.

The business was forced to pay $135K in "damages," but that's not a "gag order."

Its not a gag order.........its damages for the emotional suffering of the complainants because of discrimination. It doesn't help the case of the perps that they insist on continuing this discrimination going forward. Damages for emotional suffering always seems pretty arbitrary but at least the amt in this case is much less than other legal cases.

Never mind the fact that the amount of said damages was meant to be punitive, because there were no medical bills and no quantifiable damages related to the business refusing to serve the lesbian couple.

In litigation, emotional suffering is a real thing.

In other words, the amount of $135K was meant to make an example out of the business and warn others, "You better comply and shut up about your personal beliefs, or else we'll drain your bank account."

No. Its meant to let people know that if you choose to be in a public business, you can't discriminate. Would you feel better about the conclusion of this case if the two people were a Korean American [a Christian woman and man] rather than lesbians?

But that's not a "gag order." LOL, how stupid does Steve Benen think his readers are?

Benen's readers are stupid??? I don't think so. I think you are blind to your own biases.
