Actually, I should have said "contrary market indicator and buy big".
I agree about the accuracy of hers and similar market timers' advice.
In fact, I think the ability to predict such large scale market movements will become infinitely harder because of the breadth of the economy. Different sections of the country will go into and out of recession at different times; different market sectors will rise and plunge at different times (witness the frequent tech stock boom and bust cycles). Such breadth make market timers like Elaine seem somewhat outdated.

I'll check out Harry Dent's book; I'm very interested in this trend as an engine to future market growth.
