Congradulations IRE's SafeNet Technology Wins 'Best Security Solution' in Solutions Integrator's First Annual SI Impact Awards; Soft-PK VPN Client Chosen by Industry Peers and Customers
BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 1999--Information Resource Engineering, Inc. (IRE) (Nasdaq:IREG), a leading provider of Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology and solutions for secure business communications, today announced that its industry leading, interoperable IPSec client SafeNet/Soft-PK was selected as "Best Security Solution" in Solutions Integrator's First Annual SI Impact Awards. The SI Impact Awards were created by International Data Group (IDG) and Solutions Integrator magazine to recognize and promote excellence among solutions integrators and their vendor partners.
"IRE is honored to receive this award and to be recognized by the industry for our excellence in technology and our ability to deliver integrated VPN solutions that meet the needs of customers," said Jack Hembrough, IRE's Senior Vice President of Sales. "The combination of robust security with ease-of-use is quickly making SafeNet technology the de facto standard for VPNs."
The awards program received more than 200 nominations in response to the call for entries last March. A panel of judges drawn from the industry screened all entries and selected finalists in each category. The winners were then determined by votes cast by more than 3,000 readers of Solutions Integrator and IDG's other enterprise publications such as InfoWorld and Network World.
The winners were announced on August 5th at a gala celebration in San Diego, California. Awards were presented in twenty six categories with thirteen awards in the vendor category and thirteen in the solutions integrator category.
"Our goal when we launched this awards program was to recognize and encourage excellence among solutions integrators and their vendor partners," said John Russell, Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Solutions Integrator. "We've reached that goal with twenty six award winners who represent the highest achievement in delivering best-of-breed products and solutions."
SafeNet/Soft-PK 2.0: A Best-of-Breed VPN Solution
SafeNet/Soft-PK is an IPSec-certified, interoperable software product for Windows 95, 98, and NT 4.0 that provides VPN capability to a desktop or laptop computer. SafeNet/Soft-PK allows secure client-to-client or client-to-gateway communication over TCP/IP networks, including the Internet. The security services offered by SafeNet/Soft-PK include confidentiality via encryption, packet integrity and authentication via keyed hash, and identity authentication via Digital Signatures and X.509 certificates exchanged during key negotiation. Version 2.0 introduces features that make SafeNet/Soft-PK even easier for administrators and/or end users to install and administer, including the CEP certificate management protocol jointly developed by Cisco Systems and VeriSign, which simplifies the handling of digital certificates.
SafeNet/Soft-PK is one of only two client software products to be awarded IPSec certification from the International Computer Security Association (ICSA) and is interoperable with IPSec devices from major equipment manufacturers. It is approved for pilot deployment by the AIAG ANX(TM) initiative and is being private-labeled by major communications vendors including Cisco Systems, Lucent Technologies, and Xedia Corporation.
