Its funny that "cutting the cable" is a name that stuck. It is an oxymoron in my case. Cable Internet offers the highest theoretical bandwidth (outside of fiber), its generally the best way to go. I think $45/mo is reasonable for an unlimited 40 megabit pipe.

I think the Satellite operators have something to worry about, because in the end they really have nothing to offer. I don't think satellite internet, considering the latency and the requirement of a landline for an absurdly slow upstream connection, is a realistic competitive option.

DSL is greatly disadvantaged as well due to speed issues.

I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has internet over 4G LTE, and what the speed there is like. I understand that in some places this is the only option.
